L.J. Long started with a simple mission.
2019 — Humble Beginnings
Founded in Durham, NC by brothers Larry Long and Jarrett Long. The Company has a single mission: provide dependable, professional open-deck freight service that contractors and shippers can count on.
Building the Fleet
Investment in Freightliner Coronado glider kit power units and Benson all-aluminum trailers — flatbeds and ramp-equipped step decks built to handle anything the job site throws at them.
Expansion Beyond the Triangle
What started as a local operation grows into a respected regional carrier — running freight throughout the Southeast and reaching all 48 states when the load calls for it.
2024 — SAM Certification & Federal Authorization
SAM.gov registration activated. SCAC LJLL issued. CAGE 0KQW7 assigned. L.J. Long Transportation becomes pre-qualified for federal, DoD and municipal freight contracts.

Oversized and overweight loads don't move without a plan. Our team handles multi-state permits, bridge clearances, and route restrictions before the wheels turn.
Equipment Standards
Our trailers are spec'd and maintained for heavy and oversized freight. Flatbeds, step decks, RGNs, and double drops — all kept road-ready and inspection-ready.
